Find why Klaviyo campaigns miss the inbox.

Diagnose branded sending domains, alignment, audience engagement, tracking links, cadence, and provider-specific placement without blaming the ESP by default.

Separate a provider problem from a campaign problem

Send the final Klaviyo campaign to personal and professional seed inboxes before changing it. If Gmail shows Promotions while Outlook reaches Inbox, that is different from broad Spam placement. Keep the branded sending domain, click tracking, From address, and rendered template intact so the test represents Klaviyo's production route.

Klaviyo itself distinguishes delivery from deliverability: a receiving server can accept a message that later lands outside the primary inbox. Use its campaign metrics alongside provider placement rather than treating accepted delivery as the final answer.

Verify the branded sending domain

Klaviyo recommends a branded sending domain so messages use your brand's domain rather than a shared Klaviyo domain. Its current product supports different send types for marketing, transactional, and service traffic. Follow the DNS records in your account, wait for propagation, verify the domain, and activate it deliberately.

The root domain should align with the From address for DMARC. For example, a branded path under `send.example.com` can align with a From address at `example.com` under relaxed alignment. Inspect a delivered message after activation; DNS verification without production use does not prove alignment.

Protect engagement and audience quality

Klaviyo emphasizes that recipient behavior strongly affects sender reputation. Begin with genuinely subscribed and recently engaged profiles, clean invalid addresses, and suppress contacts who should no longer receive the stream. Changing to a new branded domain does not erase the same unwanted sending behavior.

Separate marketing and transactional traffic when business needs and account capabilities justify it. A promotional campaign should not put password resets or order updates at unnecessary risk. If the sending domain is new, follow the appropriate platform introduction or warming process without using it as permission for a sudden full-database send.

Check tracking and message construction

Review dedicated click tracking if available, confirm SSL and destination integrity, and open the final rewritten links. A branded link path can make the relationship clearer, but it does not rescue a compromised landing page or misleading offer. Keep the message readable without images and make unsubscribe handling easy.

Compare one controlled message change at a time. If Gmail alone moves to Spam, combine the result with Google Postmaster Tools and Gmail's published sender requirements. If every provider worsens after a new segment or cadence change, investigate the audience and volume before redesigning the template.

Retest the same Klaviyo path

After fixing alignment, audience, cadence, or link issues, send again through Klaviyo to the same provider segment. Record the change and compare raw counts, not only a score. A move from Waiting to Inbox because a delayed seed arrived is not the same as a move from Spam after the repair.

Questions readers ask

Do I need a branded sending domain in Klaviyo?

Klaviyo recommends one and current mailbox-provider requirements make aligned branded authentication important for bulk senders. Follow the account-specific setup and verify a delivered message.

Will switching domains fix Klaviyo deliverability?

Not by itself. The new domain has little history, and the same list, complaints, cadence, or links can reproduce the problem.

Is Sendlander affiliated with Klaviyo?

No. Klaviyo is a trademark of its owner. Sendlander independently measures seed inbox placement.
