Why there are no benchmark numbers here yet
Sendlander does not yet have a sample we are prepared to describe as a market benchmark. Publishing an early customer average would create a precise-looking number from a self-selected group of senders using a new product. It would overrepresent the providers, regions, message types, and problems in that group.
This page documents the standard the data must meet before publication. It remains excluded from search indexing until the sample, privacy review, and analysis are defensible. That is less exciting than a chart, but it protects customers and gives future readers a result they can actually evaluate.
No benchmark is better than a biased benchmark presented without its limits.
Minimum publication record
Every release will identify the observation period, number of eligible tests, number of unique sender organizations after deduplication, total seed observations, provider and account-segment distribution, major message categories, geography where it is known and safe to use, and the share of results classified as missing. We will publish a minimum sample rule before looking at the headline result.
Repeated tests from one sender can dominate a raw event table, so reports will be deduplicated or weighted at an appropriate sender and time level. Internal tests, development fixtures, known abuse, corrupted runs, and tests without a sufficient observation window will be excluded under written rules.
Outcome definitions
Inbox, Promotions or other tabs, Spam, and Missing will remain separate. Any combined inbox metric will state whether Promotions is included. The denominator will be visible. Partial tests will not silently exclude waiting seeds, and final missing results will not be reclassified as spam without evidence.
Provider comparisons will use the provider's eligible observations, with sample counts beside percentages. Personal and professional segments will be separated where account type can be classified reliably. We will avoid decimal precision unsupported by the sample.
Privacy and anonymization
The research dataset will not publish active seed addresses, customer recipient lists, message bodies, subjects, tracking tokens, report URLs, customer domains, or any value that lets a reader identify an individual sender. Analysis will use aggregated classifications and derived technical signals only after a documented privacy review.
Small cells will be suppressed or combined to prevent re-identification. Customers will be governed by the product's data terms and any additional research consent or opt-out required by the final design. Raw customer data will never be supplied as a public download.
Correlation is not causation
If aligned authentication correlates with higher placement, the report will not claim alignment alone caused the difference. Senders with strong authentication may also have better lists, reputation, volume discipline, and operational maturity. The same caution applies to message size, link counts, and sender age.
We will label exploratory findings, confidence intervals where the data supports them, and major confounders. Provider models and sender requirements change, so each release will be dated and historical comparisons will note classification or product changes.
How the report will be updated
The first public edition will ship only after the sample rules are met and a technical and privacy review is complete. Early releases may be quarterly while the sample grows; a yearly view becomes useful only when seasonal and provider-mix differences can be explained.
When published, charts will include citation guidance and accessible tables. Methodology corrections will be recorded rather than silently overwriting history. Until then, use your own comparable placement trend as the most relevant benchmark for your sending program.
Questions readers ask
Why is this page noindex?
The benchmark dataset is not yet sufficient for a public market claim. The route documents the methodology while remaining out of search results until the evidence is ready.
Will customer email content be published?
No. Public research will use anonymized aggregate outcomes and reviewed derived signals, never raw customer content or active seed details.
Can I use my own placement rate as a benchmark?
Yes. A stable, provider-specific internal baseline is often more actionable than a broad market average with a different sender and audience mix.
